Summer Lovin’

I love summer but usually I am ready for fall & winter to roll in once September comes around. This year was different. I truly would have been delighted if summer lasted forever. We got to spend so many of our summer days with our best friends. It was truly the best.

Over Labor Day we finished up our summer with our final trip to Flaming Gorge. We had such a blast taking the kids out on the boat & enjoying our last moments of summer 2015. We watched fire works & their annual boat parade. We swam. We fished. We took it all in before we had to admit to ourselves that summer was truly over.

I didn’t get many photos on our trip but I got enough to show how much fun we had. I am already preparing the agenda for summer 2016. I hope Lorin & Matt are ready for another epic summer!

I know I say it all the time but I truly feel lucky to have all these amazing people in my life. My summers, weekends & days wouldn’t be complete without all of them. Our adventures our grand & there are so many more to come.

Epic Bachelorette Party

WARNING: If fake male parts are not your thing you might want to skip this post!

I wanted to throw the best party I could for the best sister ever & I think I successfully accomplished that with the help of my best friend. In one of my previous posts I talked about Manila, Utah & our favorite lake, Flaming George. We ventured out that way again for my sister’s party. Lorin & I were having our first girls weekend away from the babies for the first time so we all knew we were in for a good time.

We told the girls we weren’t going to be able to take the boat out & surprised them in the morning with it. It worked out perfectly & was hilarious. We had a boat slip for the weekend & told the girls we were just going to head to the dock to drink a mimosa before going to the beach on the for the day. As we were walking down the dock Lorin stopped at our boat & said “Hey!!! This boat looks cool… Let’s see what’s in it.” She starts unsnapping the cover & all the girls were baffled my sister said something like “Lorin, I know you’re crazy… but not this crazy.” A minute later we told them it was our boat for the weekend & they were so excited. I think all three of them were about to leave Lorin & I on the dock to have their own party before we told them the truth.

Our day started out just us five boating around, wakeboarding & swimming. We beached the boat when we saw a storm blowing & hangout until it passed by. We had lunch & played a couple of our bachelorette party games we got. The storm blew in decently heavy so we made ourselves a little shelter in the boat & hung out, sang rap song & danced for a good two hours. When the storm passed & we were safe to move on we boated around for a bit & headed back to the dock.

I made us all pink kimonos & my sister a white floral one. I wanted it to be very obvious that something awesome was going on. It worked. When we got back to the docks people were yelling “HEY! THERE’S THE PINK LADIES!” We were a hit. Suddenly we were playing our bachelorette party games with 60 people, getting free drinks & made our way onto a yacht for an epic dance party & a swim at the rope swing.

I wish I would have gotten a little more photos than I did. But I was far too taken in by all the fun to pull my camera out. Anyway! Enjoy the photos & I will have the links to all of the games & fun things we got at the bottom of the post.

I am so glad my sister is surrounded by so many loving people & has some of the best friends ever. The weekend really was perfect & so much fun. I think we need a yearly girls trip! Minus all the fake penises. I also made awesome Swag Bags for the girls. I will have a post with all the details on that later on this month. So watch for it!

I am a huge girls girl & that’s my favorite part about going to a bachelorette party. A bunch of fun & wild girls getting crazy together. Drop a comment bellow & tell me what your favorite thing about bachelorette parties is!

Tollgate: Shelby & Austin

One of my oldest friends has ventured her way from the valley of Salt Lake City, Utah up to Tollgate to live in the most adorable cabin with her boyfriend & pups. I constantly saw pictures across her social media of her new home & it looked amazing. I asked her if I could come up & take some photos of them & she accepted.

I’m thankful she did… if she hadn’t I don’t think I would ever have discovered this little slice of heaven that is a part of Utah. It’s the most amazing little canyon. There are medows with wild flowers next to ponds with phenomenal backdrops of the mountains. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I drove into the canyon. It is stunning. I truly had been missing out on something incredible.

I’ve known Shelby for over ten years & as most of you know friendships tend to fade slowly after knowing one another for so long. But you know you have a true friendship when you can go so long, see one another again & it feel as though no time has passed. That’s how it is with Shelby. Every time.

It was my first time meeting her boyfriend & her furbabies & they are all amazing. I can’t wait for future adventures up in Tollgate with them. I can promise there will be more adventures & many more photos… but for now enjoy these! They’re perfect. Everything about them is perfect.

I can’t thank Shelby & Austin enough for letting me come up & adventure around with them. I’m insanely jealous that they get to call this place home. All of the photos were taken during a walk we took. Which just so happens to be the walk they take every night. I mean… come on… How lucky are they?

Isn’t it crazy that something so magical can hide from you for so long! What is your favorite location in the place you call home? Share it with me!

Flaming George: Sunlight & Babes

“Nothing is more memorable than a smell. One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains.”

My best friend has a cabin in Manila, Utah (Well, her grandpa does but it sounds cooler if I say it’s hers) just a ten minute drive to Flaming George. If you’ve never been out that way I suggest you do it. It’s one of the most beautiful lakes. One side is complete desert & the other side is all mountains & big trees. It’s so stunning, the sunsets are incredible & the water is the perfect temperature to jump in & cool off.

I can honestly say our days were the same. Wake up, pack everyone up & head to the lake. For three full days. It was perfect. I know people think we are crazy… us two girls packing up our three kids & dog for a four day mom & kid trip at the lake. We are crazy & we love it. We get to spend quality time all together with no other distractions but the sunshine & water. I wish everyday could be like this…

I seriously feel so lucky to have such an amazing best friend in my life. My life wouldn’t be complete without her & baby Koi in it. They are our best friends, our family. We love every adventure we get to have with them & I can’t wait to share each one of them with you all! Now… I leave you with the best selfie of us four ever taken.

We have many more trips to the cabin planned this summer & I can’t wait! What are some of your favorite lakeside activities? Share them with a comment!

Photoshoot: A Taste of Freedom

May the sun in his course visit no land more free, more happy,
more lovely, than this our own country! -Daniel Webster

A & Scarf

Fourth of July: Fireworks, freedom, summer heat, food, family, & good friends. Best. Holiday. Ever. Democrat, Republican, Interdependent it doesn’t matter we come together as a whole, as a nation to celebrate the beautiful country that we are all blessed to call home.

I’ve always felt lucky to live in America but since I’ve had Adalie & Stella I feel even more lucky. I feel lucky that my girls live in a country that gives them the freedom to be who they choose to be. To be strong females that can do whatever they put their mind to. Whether that’s becoming the CEO of a company or being a stay at home mom. They can do it. Any of it… because we live in the Land of the Free.

To celebrate our freedom & our love for our country I took my best friends son, Koiya & the girls out to do a Fourth of July themed shoot. As most of you are aware I am just finding my way in the photography world. I will be honest. Kids are insanely hard to photograph. They move so much & so fast getting perfect shots is a challenge & will take a lot of practice.

But… I have to say that the photos came out decently well! Some are blurry which I somewhat expected with such crazy kids… but for the most part they captured exactly what I wanted. Kids being kids while representing the beautiful country we live in.

These three kids melt my heart. I can hardly handle how much love they have for one another already. They constantly show me how lucky I am to be a mom & how blessed I am to have a best friend with such an adorable son. He is just as close to my heart as my babies are.

As I mentioned before I am just finding my path in the photography world. Any tips on photographing running, crazy children? Let me know with a comment below!

Best Halloween

I think every Utahn will agree with me when I say that this years Halloween was perfect. All night I said to Matt “This will be a Halloween we’ll never forget. I promise you. It’s perfect.”

Many things made the night perfect for me. Adalie’s enthusiasm was a big part of it. She loved every moment of trick-or-treating this year. She would knock on the door & softly say “Trick-or-Treat.” Collect her candy & as she ran away yell “THANK YOU!” Right way would say “Next one mom! Next one!” I had so much fun with her I felt like a little kid myself.

She lasted a good twenty houses before she started saying “I’m done. I wanna go home now.” & jumped in her stroller for a ride back home. I tried to convince her to go to a few more houses but she was tuckered out. It probably had to do with the overload of candy she already had. I tried my best to get photos of her while we were out but she refused to sit still so every picture is a little black blur.

This photo is the least blury & my favorite. Her little black blur & the skip in our step shows exactly how the night went for us.

I knew I wanted Adalie to be a cat & Matt thought it would be cute if Stella was a mouse. Cat chases mouse kind of thing. So we went with it & they looked adorable.

For both of their tutus I got a spool of tulle & cut it down to about two inches wide & tide it onto elastic. That’s it.

For Adalie’s cat tail I found a fluffy boa, hot glued it onto a piece of floral wire & looped it onto the elastic. It worked perfectly & the wire gave the tail enough support but also gave it a little bounce when she moved around.

The black shirt & leggings are from Target. I was going to do a leotard but with the unpredictable weather in Utah I knew that wasn’t a good idea.

Stella’s mouse tail came from some gray fleece fabric I had. I cut out a little tail & sewed it together. Stuffed it with fluff, some floral wire & hand sewed it onto the elastic.

I got her onsie at Carter’s. It came in a pack with a few other adorable onsies. The tights are from Target. I love stripes & polka dots together so this was the perfect mouse combination.

Nana is always spoiling the girls with random things. She got Adalie this little kitty costume set from the dollar store. The cat ears that came with it were too cute not to use. They went so well with her sparkly skirt & they worked perfectly with her outfit.

Stella’s little mouse ears were a bit more complicated. I saw these on Pinterest & knew I could easily make them. I used some gray flet & cut out ears from this template, glued them onto elastic & did a little stitch around them to hold them together. I made a little pink bow from random ribbon I had. They were so easy to make & added so much to her little costume.

Their shoes I got from Target. Adalie was in need of a cute pair of winter boots so these were the perfect pick. They’ll go with everything & they looked adorable with her costume.

Stella’s are the Ministar baby boots in pink. They are the best babe shoes! Every mom needs a pair for their little ones. They’re warm, soft & stay on their feet. You read that correctly. They NEVER fall off!

Here’s a few more photos of them so you can take in all the adorableness! I wish I could have gotten a photo of the two of them together but Adalie is impossible these days. She is constantly on the move.

Later on I will do a post on my outfit & give details on how I did my hair into cat ears. Until than answer a few questions for me! What did you dress your babes up as for Halloween? & if you’re not from Utah how was the weather for you?

Halloween Photoshoot

As most of you know two of my closest friends have babies just weeks apart from Stella. So we obviously had to get them all together for photos in their Halloween outfits. They participated well… my toddler is another story.

These little babes will forever know each other. They’ll grow up together & be like family to one another. Matt & I come from very small families so our babes having little friends to grow up with is so fun for us. I think they make the cutest friends ever.

Like I said Adalie is impossible to photograph. The whole time we were taking photos she was running off to the park. Chasing the dog around & yelling “NOOO!” every time I asked her to get in a photo. I was lucky enough to get her into these two… toddlers are crazy & impossible. The bribery of ice cream wasn’t even working.

We decided to dress up with the kids for our little photo shoot. Lorin dressed up as Willy Wonka to match Koiya’s Oompa Loompa outfit & Jessica dressed as a little witch because owls & withes are best of friends. There is a little park right next to our place & that’s where we went to take our photos. It’s the perfect spot in the fall with all the fallen leaves & the big trees.

I couldn’t love these babies & their moms anymore than I already do. I look forward to all the years to come. The future memories to be made & the many adventures to come. What a lucky momma I am to have such amazing woman in my life.

A huge thank you to Lexi for taking photos of us. You make one sexy indian! Koiya is lucky to have such a sweet Aunt in his life.

Later on this week I’ll be posting some DIY tutorials & sharing the details on our Halloween outfits. For now enjoy this babe selfie. I just love her big blue eyes & chubby cheeks!
